Our food is made up of nine different components:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>macronutrients\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>carbohydrates<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>proteins<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fats<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>micronutrients\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>vitamins<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>minerals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>non-nutrients\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>fiber<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>secondary plant substances<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>water<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>probiotics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve a balanced and healthy diet, it&#8217;s essential to supply these components in the right quantities and proportions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;re not following a plantbased diet, you have to pay more attention to the composition of fats and ensure you&#8217;re getting enough vitamins. Also, be aware that <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/34066335\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\" class=\"stk-highlight\">scientists find problematic contaminants in animal-based products from time to time<\/span><\/a>. For those on a vegan diet, the supply of vitamin B12, iron, and proteins can be problematic, as plant-based foods contain vitamin B12 in significantly lower quantities.
